Education in Virtue: Ultimum Potentiae...
Our school-wide virtue program is the Disciple of Christ, Education in Virtue Program, introduced through the school’s religion department. In prayer, Mrs. Milawski has chosen for Saint Gregory the virtues of hope and courage as our themes for the 2020-2021 school year.
The school counseling program supports this effort by implementing school-wide initiatives to recognize our students who are leaders in pursuing virtue.
This year's school-wide initiative will be Stories of Ultimum Potentiae.
Saint Thomas Aquinas described human virtue as ultimum potentiae; meaning the limit of power, or the furthest point that power can reach. We are most powerful as human beings when we choose to act with virtue. Our students will be invited to see VIRTUE as their SUPER power.
Teachers will submit stories of ultimum potentiae to the school counselor for review. Once accepted, the students will have their picture taken with our Ultimum Potentiae banner (pictured above) and their photo and story added to the bulletin board outside the library. These stories will be shared on SGTV.
At the end of the school year one/two students will be eligible to receive the end of year Ultimum Potentiae award. These honorees will be selected from students in grades 3-5.
